Meet the Staff

Nicole Mottola
Spending most of her time growing up in Staten Island, Nicole moved to New Hampshire at the age of 17 with her family. This is where she pursued her career in early childhood education at The University of New Hampshire. After college, Nicole taught kindergarten for seven years and also ran a preschool program for 3 years. During this time, Nicole started her own family and moved to work in traditional daycare facilities and a home daycare with the younger children. Her love and passion is watching children grow from birth on.

Linda Stillworth
Linda is a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 4. She studied criminal justice and worked for the State Parole Board for 22 years. She enjoys working with kids.

Shana Schiavo, Director
Shana is a mother of 4 children ranging in age from 8-19.  She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1996 and began attending Mercer County Community College shortly afterwards where she studied Early Childhood.  Before purchasing Explorations Community Preschool, she ran a successful at-home daycare for 16 years.

Elizabeth Newman
Elizabeth is the four year old teacher at Explorations Community Preschool. She studied at TCNJ and received her Bachelors degree from Thomas Edison State University. Elizabeth has been in the childcare business for 14 years.

Kim Naughton
Kim was born in Syracuse, NY and moved to Lawrenceville about 9 years ago. She graduated with a degree in business from Clarkson University in 2005, where it was very cold most of the year! She has been married for 10 years and has 3 amazing children. Her love for her own children made her realize that she has more fun working and playing with children, which lead her to Explorations! She also love reading, taking pictures and Disney!

Renee Barber
Renee is a mother of 4 children aged 9 to 14 years old. She studied at Temple University’s Art campus (Tyler School of Art) and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts with a teaching certification. She taught K through 12 art for 5 years and then became a stay at home mom. She has been an aid/assistant at Explorations for the past 3 years, and consider the staff as an extension of her family.

Debbie Evans
Debbie has been a teaching assistant since 1995. She graduated from Lawrence High School and went on to continue her education at Mercer County College, where she studied Early Childhood. She is a devoted wife and mother who loves working with children and animals!
